Hey y’all! It’s been a while since I have posted since I have been super busy with the beginning of my sophomore year at Boston College, but I’m really excited to get back in the swing of this! However, I feel like I should update you on what I’ve been up to, and where life has been these last few months. I’m also going to make “Breakfast Dates” a new series on the blog that’s more focused on life updates and other things going on with me!
At the end of August, I moved into my new student apartment here at BC. It is an amazing space that I share with my roommate Olivia and we’ve decorated and love (stay tuned for an apartment tour!). Some of my favorite parts of our apartment are our plant wall where we have all of our succulents and other plants, our star wall which is the backdrop of many pics, and the photo wall that I put together above my desk. Overall, it’s a great space that is fantastic for the both of us and we’re so happy to share!
One of the things that I love most about our apartment is having a kitchen that I can cook and bake in! It has made eating healthy much easier than when I was eating in the dining halls and I enjoy being able to make a delicious and nutritious meal every day. I’m experimenting and trying out new things as well as perfecting my staples, and I’m looking forward to sharing recipes and good eats on the blog this year.
I actually moved into school a few days early because I had to attend training for my new role as a stress management coach here at school. At BC, we have over a hundred student health coaches who specialize in different areas of health and serve as positive influences within the student body. We went through hours of education and practice, and I’m really enjoying seeing the positive impact that it has had on me and the people around me. I could not be more excited to take part in this, and I can’t wait to share with you some of the knowledge that I have learned about health in general, and stress management which is my specialty area.
A big piece our weekends these last few months has been BC football! We had 4 games in August so the schedule was really front-loaded, but that means warm weather and sunny skies! It was great to enjoy the summer in the stadium while it lasted, and now we only have 1 home game left before the season comes to a close!
I am still singing in our church choir here, which continues to be a blessing in my life every single day. The people who sing with me bring joy into my life and make my day better just by being in it. However, in addition to singing, I started swing dancing this year! Swing has been such a fun way to stay active, learn something new, and meet so many fabulous people!
Academically, this year has been very strong. I am still in the process of figuring out what academic track my next semesters are going to take, and unfortunately, it is mostly out of my hands. However, I started taking classes towards an economics major and it has been great. I have a renewed curiosity in the subject that I am learning and how it applies to the world around me, and no matter where my academic work goes these next semesters, I know that I have great things in store.
Getting away from the superficial things, the beginning of this year has been one of the highest points in my life. I feel
Let’s do this again sometime.
Best,
Ashley
